Paper-Cuts
My art exhibition ’Arabic Abstraction II’ continues at City of Casey offices, Magid Drive, Narre Warren until 29th January 2016.
The novel part of this exhibition, are my compositions with paper cuts. Paper-cuts have allowed me to extend beyond the two dimensional space and explore the possibility of using depth, ambient light and shadows to create contemporary abstract compositions around alphabets. Though minimalistic in its execution, this technique is very inclusive from the viewer’s point of view.
In the featured work ‘Light and Shadows #1’, the characteristic of the letter change and the rhombic dots appear or disappear depending on the orientation of the work and placement of the light source.
